Two individuals were recently arrested in connection with multiple alleged burglaries and thefts, according to a press release by the Tracy Police Department.
On Monday, April 15, 2024, the Tracy Police Department Communications Center received multiple reports of auto burglary and theft incidents throughout the day, with witnesses describing the suspects as driving a newer green Dodge Charger. Around 4:05 p.m., a Tracy Police Officer observed a green Dodge Charger matching the reported vehicle parked at Motel 6 in the 3800 block of North Tracy Boulevard.
Upon observing two individuals, later identified as Enrique Antunez (34 years old from Fremont, CA) and Karris Garcia (32 years old from Fremont, CA), entering the vehicle, law enforcement officials initiated action. However, when the officer attempted to detain the suspects, the driver, Antunez, rapidly reversed the vehicle and intentionally collided with a marked Tracy PD patrol vehicle driven by a uniformed officer. No Tracy PD officers sustained injuries during the incident.
Additional units successfully disabled the suspect vehicle, leading to the detention of both individuals without further escalation. A subsequent search of the vehicle, suspects, and an associated motel room, conducted pursuant to a search warrant, revealed alarming findings. Among the discovered items were a loaded firearm with its serial number obliterated, stolen mail/packages, mailbox keys, electronic vehicle theft devices, identity theft-related materials, and various other stolen possessions.
Given the gravity of the situation and the breadth of the seized evidence, detectives from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Tracy Police Department General Investigations Unit (GIU), Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATT), and Postal Inspectors from the US Postal Inspection Service, were summoned to assist in the investigation.
Both suspects, Antunez and Garcia, were subsequently booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on an array of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, identity theft, felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, and several other offenses related to identity theft and firearms possession.
The Tracy Police Department urges anyone with pertinent information regarding this investigation to contact them at (209) 831-6550.
