Shasta County Man Arrested for Allegedly Threatening People with Firearm

Bouachanh Phetchamphone, 45 years of Redding, was allegedly armed and threatening to shoot several residents in the area, one of which was a 9-year-old child. Phetchamphone was also threatening his elderly family members, who had a court order prohibiting him from being at the residence.

Officers with patrol and the Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT) arrived and contacted Phetchamphone, who was aggressively walking in the middle of the street toward officers and cursing at them. Phetchamphone refused to follow orders and less-lethal resources and tactics, such as a police K-9, were utilized to diffuse the situation and take Phetchamphone into custody.

After being medically treated, Phetchamphone was booked into the Shasta County Jail for Resisting Arrest, Threatening an Officer, disobeying a Court Order, Child Abuse, and Threatening a Dependent Adult.

Whenever possible, patrol officers work closely with CIRT to leverage their expertise and specialized training to minimize the risk of harm, preserve life, and connect individuals in crisis with available resources.”
