Burglar caught in the act in Point Reyes
POINT REYES – Sheriffs Deputies have arrested 29-year -old Patrick Keegan Walsh of Greenbrae for burglary and possession of burglary tools. Keegan had apparently returned to the scene with a different plan after failing to break in the night before.
On Friday night about 9:17, according to a Marin County Sheriff’s press release, a deputy on patrol in Point Reyes was checking up on the West Marin Pharmacy on 4th Street. At the beginning of shift, the deputy had been apprised of an incident the previous night, when it was reported that someone had unsuccessfully attempted to pry open the door.
While checking the building, the deputy saw one of the windows had been broken, about 20 feet from the front entrance. Carefully checking the broken window, the deputy could hear someone moving about inside. He moved to where he could observe the window and the side of the building and called for additional units to help search inside.
About 7 minutes later, an alarm in the Pharmacy was activated, and Keegan came to the broken window apparently preparing to get away. The deputy identified himself and ordered him not to move. Keegan instead moved further back into the store, refusing to come out. The deputy remained on guard until the two additional units arrived. They were able to take Keegan into custody without further incident, and he was booked into the Marin County jail.
