“Another ghost gun taken off the streets with the help of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR).

Yesterday evening, MPD officers were dispatched to a report of a subject in a vehicle who brandished a firearm at another driver. MPD officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle’s license plate and issued a be on the look out to neighboring jurisdictions.

Marina Police Department was able to determine via ALPR that the vehicle was last seen in their city and they quickly located it. The driver, 23 year old Brandon Turner of Monterey, was found to have a loaded, firearm in the vehicle. The firearm had no serial number, also known as a “ghost gun.” Turner is a convicted felon for a previous firearm arrest in 2019 and he was in possession of suspected narcotics.

Turner was booked into Monterey County Jail on numerous felony charges.

Thank you to Marina PD for their assistance!”
