“On May 22, 2024, members of REACT (Regional Enforcement of All Crimes Team) including a California Highway Patrol Officer and Sacramento Sheriff’s Detectives were working highway enforcement in the area of Interstate 5 and Twin Cities in the southern portion of the county when they observed a vehicle travelling over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was conducted for an observed traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, REACT team members noticed multiple indicators of narcotics trafficking. A search of the vehicle yielded a large tote bag hidden in the spare tire compartment which contained multiple packages of narcotics. A total of 11.2 LBS of Methamphetamine, 1.204 Kilograms of Cocaine, 1.365 LBS of Xylozine Fentanyl and approximately 10,000 multi-colored, pressed counterfeit M30 pills likely containing fentanyl were located.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 39 year old Rodolfo Patino-Reyes, was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the DEA, xylazine and fentanyl drug mixtures place users at a higher risk of suffering a fatal drug poisoning. Because xylazine is not an opioid, naloxone (Narcan) does not reverse its effects.”
