“On June 8, 2024, at approximately 12:17 p.m., Redwood City Police Officers responded on a report of an armed robbery, which had just occurred in a convenience store located at 895 5th Avenue.  The victim, a store clerk, reported that a male subject entered the convenience store and took merchandise without paying.  The clerk confronted the male subject, who then brandished a large knife in a threatening manner.  The clerk feared for his safety, retreated into the store, and called 9-1-1 as the male subject fled on foot.

Redwood City Police Officers responded to the scene to investigate and developed a suspect description, which was shared with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.  Shortly thereafter, deputies advised they had a possible male subject detained a short distance from the scene of the crime.  The victim and a witness identified the detained subject as the person who had committed the armed robbery.  The stolen merchandise and the knife were also located nearby.

The suspect, Redwood City resident Luis Montes Hernandez, was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges of armed robbery and a probation violation.”
