Fairfield Police Searching for Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect

“This morning, between 8:30-9:00 am, two 12-year-olds were walking to school on the bicycle path between Meadowlark Drive and East Tabor Avenue when they were approached by a man riding a gray BMX style bike.

The man attempted to assault both children, but they were able to fight him off. Upon arriving at school, they immediately notified school staff and a School Resource Officer about the incident and described the suspect as a dark-skinned, Hispanic male wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans.

The Fairfield Police Department is working closely with the school district and victims to obtain a better description of the suspect, while the school also works to provide the students with the mental health support they need.

In the meantime, detectives from the Special Victims Unit (SVU)are actively investigating. Every available officer and resource is being used to search for the culprit, to include our motorcycle officers and drones.

Officers will also be patrolling and closely monitoring all routes to and from the local schools this afternoon as they work to identify and apprehend the suspect.

Anyone who might have seen a person matching the man’s description in the area this morning, or who might have any information pertinent to this investigation should call (707)428-7300, option 8.

This investigation is active and ongoing, and as such additional details are not yet available.”
