Shasta County Authorities Reportedly Seize Two Pounds of Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop

Shasta County authorities recently arrested a Sacramento man for the alleged transportation of narcotics for sale.
According to a press release by the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task force, deputies attempted an enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation on northbound I-5 on the afternoon of Thursday, June 13.
The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Edgar Ivan Mares, allegedly refused to yield to the Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle and continued for around two miles at low speeds.

Mares ultimately stopped in the parking lot of the Anderson Factory Outlets.
During the stop, deputies utilized K-9 Deputy Ace to search the vehicle. The K-9 reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics, and deputies allegedly discovered just over two pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle.
The county’s Interagency Narcotics Task Force responded to the scene to take over the investigation.
Authorities took Morales into custody for the alleged possession and transportation of narcotics for the purpose of sales and misdemeanor evading.
Mares was booked at the Shasta County jail on $100,000 bond, authorities said.
