“On Friday, June 14, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office North Patrol Deputies responded to a call of an assault on Watt Avenue. Upon their arrival, the Deputies spoke to the female victim, who said she and another female were involved in an altercation when a male subject ran up to them, struck her multiple times with a pistol, and then ran away.
Deputies diligently searched the area and located the second female involved in the altercation at a nearby hotel. Moments later, Deputies saw a male matching the suspect’s description momentarily exit and quickly return to a hotel room. Approximately five minutes later, the male, later identified as 20-year-old Daniel Gates, exited the room and was safely taken into custody without incident.
Through tear-filled eyes, the female contacted at the hotel told Deputies she was being sex trafficked and needed to be rescued. The Deputies immediately contacted the Special Investigations Bureau for further investigations. Detectives authored a search warrant into the hotel room, where they discovered paraphernalia contaminated with fentanyl, an unregistered “Ghost Gun,” with an illegal, loaded 31-round magazine, sex worker indicia, and multiple digital devices.
The young woman was connected with the Family Justice Center, which is working to provide a safe place for her to begin the long road to recovery.
Gates was arrested for multiple felony charges, including Pimping and Pandering. He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $110,000 bail. It should also be noted the male suspect was previously out on bail for other felony charges.
This is the latest incident regarding sex trafficking in a matter of days, as four juveniles were rescued, and another pimp was arrested earlier in the week.”
