BRENTWOOD — A felon released from state prison subject to post-release community supervision in Contra Costa County is behind bars again. Julian S. Ramirez, 27, of Oakley, remains in custody at the West County Detention Facility ineligible for release on bond.
An officer patrolling recognized Ramirez who is suspected of recent theft at the Famous Footwear store at Lone Tree Plaza. The officer has had prior contacts with Ramirez who is frequently in trouble with the law.
Moreover, Ramirez had an outstanding felony warrant. A second unidentified person who was with Ramirez was also placed under arrest for outstanding warrants.
The officer attempted to contact Ramirez on June 18 at approximately 4:30 p.m. However, Ramirez fled on foot, running behind a Target store. A search for Ramirez commenced, with Antioch and Oakley police assisting Brentwood officers.
An Antioch officer found Ramirez. A second pursuit ensued across Highway 4, where Ramirez was subsequently arrested by Brentwood PD at 5:40 p.m. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility before being transferred to the West County Detention Facility in Richmond.
Turns out, Ramirez was found in possession of methamphetamine for personal use. Ramirez faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, and violation of the terms of his alternative parole supervision.
Ramirez has prior arrests and convictions for motor vehicle thefts. Earlier this year he was arrested in January and April for possession of a controlled substance.
