San Mateo County authorities have reportedly arrested an individual in connection with two armed robberies within ten minutes of each other.

Just after 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, Menlo Park police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven on Oak Grove Avenue in Menlo Park, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Witnesses reportedly described the suspect as a Hispanic man dressed in all black and armed with a handgun.

The suspect fled the scene in a green Saturn before officers arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Ten minutes later, San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a second armed robbery report at the Shell gas station on Marsh Road in unincorporated San Mateo County.

The suspect and vehicle description reportedly matched those from the Menlo Park incident. Sheriff’s deputies and Menlo Park police officers quickly canvassed the area.

A Menlo Park police officer observed the suspect fleeing at high speed and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect continued to flee before crashing near Marsh Road and Scott Drive, authorities said.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Edgar Gonzalez Zamora, 26, of Redwood City.

Authorities recovered a replica handgun used in the robberies and the stolen items.

Gonzalez Zamora was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of armed robbery, the Sheriff’s Office said.
