An individual was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after their vehicle collided with a residence in Petaluma, according to police.

On the night of July 11, 2024, dispatch received multiple calls reporting that a vehicle had crashed into a residence near the intersection of Caulfield Lane and South McDowell Boulevard, police said in a press release.

At the scene, officers reportedly found a red Ford Mustang that had collided with the side of a nearby residence.

The vehicle sustained major damage, and there was substantial exterior damage to the residence, police said

Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Angel Alegria-Vasquez, 21. Alegria-Vasquez was still in the vehicle and allegedly showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

Alcohol was also allegedly found in the vehicle.

Vasquez was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

From witness accounts and evidence gathered at the scene, investigators believe Vasquez had been driving recklessly over several city blocks prior to the collision.

After receiving treatment and being discharged from the hospital, Vasquez was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The resident of the home was present at the time of the collision but was not harmed. The crash reportedly also damaged nearby electrical boxes, causing a power outage to nearby stoplights.

The vehicle was impounded following Vasquez’s arrest, police said.
