A man faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a stabbing attack in Delano earlier this month.
According to a press release by the Delano Police Department, officers responded to the 2000 block of Girard Street on the evening of July 9 to investigate a report of a stabbing.
At the scene, officers reportedly discovered two female victims who had been stabbed.
The two were taken to area hospitals for treatment and were listed as being in stable condition, police said.
Investigators reportedly believe that the suspect in the attack had been walking in the area and had gotten into an argument with the two victims. This escalated to the point of the suspect allegedly stabbing the victims and then fleeing the scene.
Officers later located the suspect, who they identified as Edwin Rodriguez, 28, and took him into custody without incident.
Investigators also served a search warrant at Rodriguez’s home, where they confiscated additional evidence related to the attack, police said.
Rodriguez was booked at the Kern County Sheriff’s office Justice Receiving Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
