Robbery Suspect Also Unknowingly Took GPS Tracking Device, Police Say
Vallejo police arrested an individual for alleged robbery after the suspect accidentally stole a GPS tracker along with the money.
On the afternoon of August 2, police reportedly responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at a business on Sonoma Boulevard. According to the caller, an unknown male entered the store, jumped over the counter, assaulted an employee, and stole approximately $3,000 from an open safe.
The suspect then fled the scene, not realizing that they had also taken a GPS tracking device with them.
Officers tracked the coordinates and located the suspect another business on the 3500 block of Sonoma Boulevard, where the suspect was allegedly asking about the cash register. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
A records check revealed he was a convicted felon on probation with multiple felony theft convictions, police said.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the county jail.
