On August 1, 2024, detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Los Angeles County residents in connection with a series of commercial burglaries in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark. 27-year-old Gardena, Ca. resident Trayvon Johnson and Carlos Gudino, 24, of Long Beach, are suspected of committing at least a half-dozen burglaries throughout the cities of Moorpark and Thousand Oaks in a crime spree conducted in the early morning hours of June 17, 2024.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Dillan Alvarez, surveillance footage from the burglarized businesses showed, “two masked individuals forcing entry” by shattering glass windows. The suspects then climbed through the broken windows and fled with cash. The method used in each burglary was consistent and “appeared to be committed by the same two suspects.”
The ensuing investigation conducted by detectives from the East County Special Enforcement Unit identified Johnson and Gudino as the primary suspects. Johnson was arrested outside his residence in Gardena, where a search warrant revealed evidence linking him to the Ventura County burglaries. A second search warrant served on Gudino at his Huntington Park residence resulted in his prompt arrest.
Both men were transported to Ventura County Jail where they were booked on multiple felony burglary charges with their bail set at $100,000 each.
