Authorities in Santa Clara County have announced the arrest of a man accused of shooting at another vehicle on the freeway back in May.
According to a press release from the San Jose-area CHP, officers responded on the afternoon of May 15 to a call reporting a freeway shooting on northbound Interstate-280 at the Saratoga Avenue off-ramp. The victim, who was not injured, safely exited the freeway and was met by officers.
Upon inspecting the victim’s vehicle, officers reportedly discovered a bullet hole in the right fender.
After taking a report from the victim, police used the city’s Flock Safety camera system to identify a vehicle of interest. They soon identified a person of interest in the shooting as Manuel Cadenas, 41, of San Jose.
Investigators soon gathered enough evidence for a warrant for Cadenas’s arrest, as well as to search his home.
On July 25, detectives carried out the warrants at Cadenas’s home. Cadenas was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Cadenas has reportedly been deemed ineligible for bail.
A firearm was recovered from his residence, police said.
