ANAHEIM CA  –  A man wanted in connection with a murder in another state was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Anaheim last week, police have announced.

In a press release, the Anaheim Police Department revealed that officers had responded on the afternoon of Friday, August 9, to the 1400 block of N. Stage College Blvd. to assist a U.S. Marshal’s Task Force regarding an individual wanted in connection with a murder in another state.

Police did not specify the state in which the man was wanted.

At some point after Task Force officials and Anaheim police officers contacted the suspect, an officer-involved shooting took place. One Anaheim officer and multiple Task Force officials fired their weapons, police said.

The wanted individual was given medical aid at the scene and transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police say that no officers were injured, but that a bystander had been struck by a bullet resulting in minor injury. The bystander was treated at an area hospital and released shortly afterward.

Authorities have declined to reveal the identity of the man who was killed, pending notification of next of kin.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, police said.
