Officers responded just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 to the area of Santa Clara Avenue and B Street, where the city’s Shot Spotter system alerted them to possible gunfire, police said in a press release.

Responding officers arrived at the scene and were directed to the front of a nearby apartment complex, where they reportedly located Christopher Worthy, 21, unresponsive and suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

EMS and Fire Department personnel transported Worthy to an area medical center, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased, police said.

Homicide detectives learned that Worthy had allegedly been involved in an argument moments before the shooting, and are currently seeking information or any potential witnesses.
