Child Sexual Abuse Arrest in Santa Maria

Keith Wayne McCoy, 37, was arrested on the morning of August 5th at his Santa Maria, Ca. residence and now faces a series of felony charges related to child sexual abuse. According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Raquel Zick, allegations stem from incidents that reportedly took place “over nearly a decade,” between April 2015 and April 2024.

The alleged victim, identified only as Jane Doe, was “under 14 years old” when the abuse began. McCoy faces several potential sentencing enhancements, including for “forcible rape of a minor and violent sexual offenses.”

McCoy, “a longtime resident of Santa Maria,” has no prior convictions for sex offenses but has had several run-ins with the law for unrelated charges. He was transported to Santa Barbara County Northern Branch Jail, where he was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a child, one count of forcible lewd act on a child, three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one count of forcible rape.

McCoy remains in custody with his bail set at $1.3 million.
