Fresno police have arrested one individual and are seeking another in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Aaliyah Bonman.
Officers had responded at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, to the Rite-Aid parking lot on North Cedar Avenue to investigate a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers found Bonman on the ground, having suffered a single gunshot wound to her upper body.
Bonman was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but was ultimately pronounced deceased at 6:33 a.m., police said.
Homicide detectives took up the investigation and soon learned that Bonman had allegedly been involved in a “physical disturbance” that also involved 21-year-old Penelope Mehr. At some point, Mehr allegedly fatally shot Bonman.
Detectives reportedly also identified Nevaeh Solomon, 18, as an accomplice in the shooting.
Undercover detectives located and arrested Mehr on Sunday, Aug. 25, near the intersection of Second Street and Jensen Avenue. She was later booked into the Fresno County jail on suspicion of murder.
Solomon is currently wanted by police, and a felony warrant has been issued for her arrest.
Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact the Fresno Police Department.
