“At approximately 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024, Sacramento County Sheriff’s North Patrol Deputies responded to a residence on New York Avenue in Fair Oaks regarding a stabbing that just occurred. Deputies arrived and located an adult male suffering from a severe stab wound to his abdomen. Deputies administered first-aid until Fire Department personnel arrived and the victim was transported to the hospital.

Deputies on scene began their investigation and learned the victim was in a fight with another male known to him, later identified as 20-year-old Alfredo Avila Garcia. They learned he fled the scene on foot shortly after the incident before Deputies arrived. Just after 3:15 PM, Avila Garcia was driven to the Sacramento Police Department station on Freeport Boulevard by family members, who called 911 to speak to Deputies. Deputies arrived shortly thereafter and took Avila Garcia into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 27. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.”
