Glenn County: Two Arrested After Suspicious-Person Report Leads to Discovery of Illegal Weapons
Two people were recently arrested in Glenn County after a suspicious-person report allegedly led to the discovery of illegal weapons.
According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, to the Tractor Supply store on North Humboldt Avenue on Willows to investigate a report of a “suspicious person” possibly under the influence of a controlled substance.
The deputy arrived at the scene and located a silver Honda, which had been described during the initial call. The deputy made contact with a man sitting inside the car, later identified as Curtis Reed.
The alleged suspicious individual described in the call had been contacted leaving the store. The Sheriff’s Office identified this person as Jeffery McKinney.
At one point, the deputy reportedly discovered that the Honda had false front and rear plates.
The deputy searched the vehicle and located a short-barrel shotgun, an AR-15 with no serial number, a second AR-15 out of compliance with state law, multiple 30-round rifle magazines, a large amount of ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Both Reed and McKinney were placed under arrest. The items found in the vehicle were collected as evidence.
Reed and McKinney were both booked at the Glenn County jail on various weapons charges, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
