Vacaville police recently arrested an individual accused of participating in a sideshow, fleeing from police, and shining a laser at a law enforcement aircraft.
According to a press release by the Vallejo Police Department, officers responded to reports of a sideshow involving approximately 500 vehicles at the intersection of Mare Island Way and Harbor Way on the night of Aug. 23.
Police reportedly received multiple calls about the sideshow, which was blocking traffic.
Patrol officers, with assistance from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, American Canyon Police Department, Cal Maritime Police Department, Benicia Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol, including their Air Operations unit, arrived at the scene to break up the sideshow.
During the response, the CHP Air Operations unit reported that an individual in a 2007 Cadillac CT6 pointed a laser at their flight deck while performing stunts in the road.
The Cadillac later passed by officers on the ground and the occupant allegedly aimed the laser at them as well. A traffic stop was initiated, but the
Police tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver refused to comply, leading to a pursuit that ended in Hercules.
The occupants abandoned the vehicle, reportedly leaving a 10-foot python inside. All four suspects were ultimately arrested.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, while the three passengers were cited and released.
The python was returned to its owner and the Cadillac was towed, police said.
