Suspects Observed Attempting to Force Entry into an Apartment

NOVATO — An attempted burglary reported to police resulted in the arrest of two suspects.
Both suspects wearing dark clothing were observed attempting to force entry into a resident’s
apartment. One of the men was seen carrying a hammer.

A witness reported seeing the suspects at an apartment complex on September 5 at 2:47 a.m. In a
prepared statement Novato police said, “Upon arrival, officers located two men matching the
suspects descriptions as they attempted to leave the area. Officers were able to safely
intervene and potentially stop additional crimes from occurring.”

Police detained the two suspects while they investigated the incident. The officers found
evidence of attempted burglary. One resident’s apartment window was found broken. Both
men were found in possession of ski masks, gloves and a headlamp flashlight. Bolt cutters
were found near where officers questioned the two suspects, which further implicated them.

Both suspects were on supervised probation for previous criminal convictions.
Officers arrested Kyle D. Jones, 36, of Santa Rosa, and Jesse J. Jones, 38, of Petaluma. The
suspects were transported to Marin County Jail. They were booked for possession of burglary
tools, and loitering/prowling on private property. That’s in addition to probation violation.

Both men are frequently in trouble with the law. Kyle Jones has been arrested 24 times since
2014 mostly for illicit drug possession. So far this year, he has been arrested four times for
battery, burglary and possession of controlled substances.

Jesse Jones has been arrested 12 times since 2014. He has prior arrests for receiving a
stolen motor vehicle, possession of controlled substance, forgery, among other offenses.
