A Fairfield man was arrested for alleged burglary after reportedly being captured on video entering a home through a doggy door.

According to a press release by the Fairfield Police Department, officers responded at around 3 a.m. on September 8 to the 1600 block of Flamingo Dr. on reports that a stranger had entered a home using the home’s doggy door.

The resident, who was not home at the time, notified police after watching the entire thing on their home surveillance system.

Responding officers found that some of the victim’s property had been brought outside and staged on the porch. Officers reportedly also heard movement inside.

An individual then reportedly fled from the house and into a neighbor’s yard. By that time, officers had already established a perimeter and were able to arrest the suspect.

Police identified the suspect as James Jackson, 54. Jackson was in possession of items stolen from the victim’s home, police said.

Jackson was ultimately booked at the Solano County jail on suspicion of burglary.
