Women Charged for Stealing an Elderly Shopper’s Purse

ALBANY, CA  — Two women face multiple felony charges for allegedly stealing an elderly
woman’s purse while she was shopping. The theft occurred at the Target store on East Shore
Highway in Albany, adjacent to Interstate 80 and 580.

The victim put her purse in a shopping cart when she arrived at the store on May 15.
Following an investigation the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced that it
filed charges on Sept. 23 against both suspects, even though the crime occurred in Contra
Costa County.

The 30-year-old suspects are Brianna E. Mitchell, last known address in San Francisco, and
Seghen Andebrhan of Oakland. They allegedly stole the victim’s phone, credit cards and
more than $950 in cash.

In a prepared statement Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price said. “Taking
advantage of the elderly will not be tolerated. No one, regardless of age, should have to worry
about having their purse being stolen while shopping.”

Mitchell and Andebran each face multiple charges involving grand theft from an elderly
vulnerable victim. They both have prior arrests and convictions.

Mitchell has prior arrests on her record for burglary, thefts, forgery, fraud and identity theft.
She has a prior conviction for second-degree commercial burglary.

Andebran has prior arrests for burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, robbery, thefts, forgery,
fraud and identify theft. She has a prior convictions for second-degree robbery, second-
degree burglary, and false impersonation.
