The California Highway Patrol recently seized two kilos of suspected cocaine during a traffic stop in Merced County.
According to a press release by the CHP, officers in the Merced area stopped a vehicle for a window-tint violation at the Hammett Avenue off-ramp on State Route 99 in late September.
The driver and passenger appeared nervous and allegedly provided conflicting stories, police said, prompting officers to request a K-9 unit.
After the K-9 reportedly alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle, officers searched it and discovered two kilos of suspected cocaine hidden in the driver’s side quarter panel.
The driver of the vehicle also allegedly provided false identification. Upon learning his real name, officers reportedly discovered he had multiple active warrants.
The driver and passenger were both booked on narcotics charges, police said.
