The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of a motorist who allegedly led police on a pursuit and was ultimately killed in an officer-involved shooting.

In a press release, the Sheriff’s Department identified the motorist as Donn Moore, 22, of Browns Valley.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, a deputy had attempted a traffic stop along Marysville Road, near Shadowbrook Trail, in Browns Valley on the night of Tuesday, Sept. 24. The driver reportedly led deputies and Yuba City police officers on a 30-minute pursuit before their truck became disabled near the 2600 block of Highway 20.

Authorities say that the driver allegedly fired shots from the truck, and that officers returned fire. The driver was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deputies directly involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, per standard policy, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The investigation into the pursuit and shooting is ongoing.
