Suspect Sought in Homicide Investigation Surrenders Himself

FREMONT, CA  —  A man wanted in a homicide investigation recently surrendered himself to police.
Abbasin Hoshmand, 47, of Fremont, remains in custody at Alameda
County Santa Rita Jail. Hoshmand is ineligible for release on bond.

Reports of shots being fires started coming in September 26 at 4:40 p.m. Fremont police
found a male victim on the sidewalk on the 40400 block of Grimmer Boulevard. Officers
provided first aid for the victim who suffered gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, he was soon
pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Hoshmand as the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting. Fremont
police said in a prepared statement. “Detectives and officers followed numerous leads, which
led to other cities within the Bay Area.”

Multiple agencies provided assistance in this homicide investigation. The Alameda County
Sheriff’s Office and East Bay Regional Park District provided helicopters to help search for the
suspect. San Jose and Pleasanton police also helped Fremont PD.

Hoshmand showed up at the Pleasanton police station several hours later, where he
surrendered himself. Hoshmand was turned over to Fremont police, who arrested him on
September 27 at 12:24 a.m.

Multiple charges were filed against Hoshmand on October 1. His charges include battery and
murder involving use of firearm on a vulnerable victim. The investigation is still ongoing.
