CHP Reportedly Investigating Pedestrian’s Death as Fatal Hit-and-Run

REDDING, CA  — Authorities in Shasta County are investigating a fatal hit-and-run on I-5 near Redding earlier this week.

According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, units in the Redding area responded in the early morning hours of Thursday, Oct. 3, to a report of a pedestrian down on southbound I-5 north of Gas Point Road.

At the scene, officers found an unresponsive female along the shoulder of the road. She was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

Investigators reportedly believe the victim was struck by an unknown vehicle and are investigating this as a fatal hit-and-run.

The name of the victim has yet to be released.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and anyone with information relevant to the case is urged to contact the Redding-area CHP office at 530-225-0500.
