Domestic Violence Suspect Reportedly Arrested After Standoff with Azusa Police

Azusa police recently arrested a man who reportedly barricaded himself inside a home during a domestic violence call.

According to a department press release, Azusa police officers responded on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 3, to a domestic violence call on the 800 block of South Cerritos Avenue.

The suspect, identified as Isaiah Castro, had reportedly barricaded himself inside the residence.

The East San Gabriel Valley SWAT team, which includes members from the Azusa, Irwindale, and Baldwin Park police departments, was activated in response.

After about two hours of negotiations, Castro surrendered and was taken into custody.

Castro was booked on suspicion of resisting or delaying arrest with force, battery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted damage of a communication device to prevent help.
