Kings County Woman Arrested After Allegedly Leading Deputies on Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

A Kings County woman was recently arrested after allegedly leading deputies on an eight-mile pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, on the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 21, deputies in the area of Highway 198, west of Highway 41, conducted a license plate check on a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not yield, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit continued for around eight miles and ultimately came to an end at the intersection of 18th and Jackson avenues when the vehicle collided with two other vehicles stopped at the intersection.
Initially, the driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle were both taken into custody, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The drivers of the other vehicles in the collision were treated at the scene.
Following a collision investigation by the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Laura Perez-Gomez, 23, was arrested and booked at the Kings County jail on suspicion of the possession of a stolen vehicle.
The passenger was released at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
