San Jose Police Reportedly Find Stolen Laptops at Local Tech Repair Shop; Owner Arrested

SAN JOSE, CA — Officers with The San Jose Police Department have reportedly recovered several stolen laptops and other items from a local tech repair shop. The store owner and one other were also arrested.
According to a press release by the San Jose Police Department, on October 12, officers responded to a call about stolen laptops from a research lab being tracked to the iTek Mobile Repair shop on South Bascom Avenue.
In addition to locating the stolen devices at the store, officers reportedly found the stolen goods listed for sale on the store’s website.
Police allege that the store’s owner, Thu Van Ho, 31, and Thanh Nguyen, 32, both of San Jose, were aware the items were stolen and intended to resell them after erasing the original data.
Investigators also discovered that stolen electronics were being prepared at the shop for shipment to Hong Kong, police said.
During the search, officers seized 29 boxes containing computers, phones, and tablets suspected to be stolen property. Investigators reportedly found around 500 laptops in the store.
Ho was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, conspiracy, probation violation, and committing a felony while out on bail.
Nguyen was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, conspiracy, and an outstanding warrant.
Ho is currently out on bail, while Nguyen remains in custody, police said.
