San Mateo County Deputies Arrest Man for Alleged DUI, Evading Law Enforcement

Deputies in San Mateo County recently arrested a man for allegedly driving and evading police while under the influence. The driver’s passenger was reportedly also arrested.

According to a press release by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol in Half Moon Bay attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle code violations, but the driver did not yield and briefly evaded law enforcement.

The deputy later found the vehicle in a parking lot near Amesport Landing.

Law enforcement made contact with the driver, who allegedly became agitated, showed signs of impairment, and resisted commands. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.

The driver, identified as Matias FuentesSantini, 26, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, being under the influence in possession of a loaded firearm, and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The passenger, identified as Iris M. Grant, 20, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and obstruction.

Deputies reportedly also recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm and a loaded magazine from the vehicle, along with “drug paraphernalia” and “other evidence,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
