Sutter Creek Man Arrested Following Domestic Violence Incident and Multi-Agency Search

SUTTER CREEK, CA  —  On Saturday evening, November 2, 2024, law enforcement in Sutter Creek responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a residential address. The Sutter Creek Police Department (SCPD) was initially alerted to an in-progress disturbance involving a male suspect who allegedly assaulted his spouse and engaged in threatening behavior, including brandishing a knife.

According to dispatch reports, while officers were en route to the scene, additional details emerged indicating that the suspect had physically assaulted his wife, including choking her. Furthermore, he was reported to have issued death threats against his wife, her mother, and the couple’s three children. These threats were reportedly made while the suspect held a knife, leading to heightened safety concerns for the family and the surrounding neighborhood.

Upon arriving at the scene, SCPD officers found that the suspect had fled on foot. During his escape, he allegedly confronted a neighbor, resulting in an altercation. SCPD quickly coordinated with neighboring law enforcement agencies, including the Jackson Police Department, the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and the Amador County Sheriff’s Office. Support was also provided by the Sutter Creek Fire Protection District and a K-9 unit from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. Together, these agencies conducted an extensive search of the area in an effort to locate the suspect, but he remained at large throughout the evening.

The search efforts continued through the night, with officers and support teams maintaining vigilance in the vicinity. The investigation intensified as SCPD collected additional information and tracked possible leads.

On the following morning, November 3, 2024, at approximately 7:37 a.m., the suspect voluntarily turned himself in at the Sutter Creek Police Department. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident and transported to the Amador County Jail. There, he was formally booked on charges related to the domestic violence incident and associated threats.

In a public statement, SCPD expressed gratitude for the swift mutual aid provided by the multiple agencies involved in the response. SCPD also acknowledged the support of Operation Care, a local organization assisting victims of domestic violence, for providing aid and support to the affected family during the incident and its aftermath.
