FARMERSVILLE, CA — At approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Deputies responded to a call on the 29100 block of Road 166 in Farmersville, where a man was reported lying on the ground and bleeding. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim, identified as 25-year-old Angel Puga of Farmersville, who had suffered both blunt force trauma and a gunshot wound. Puga was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to TCSO Homicide Detectives, Puga had been attempting to leave a large Halloween gathering when he was confronted by a group associated with the Northern gang. During this encounter, Puga was assaulted and shot, after which the suspects fled the scene. An autopsy later confirmed that Puga’s death was caused by the gunshot wound.
Following a series of search warrants and interviews, detectives identified six individuals believed to be responsible: Landon Woods, 20, of Exeter; Eric Bullard, 18, of Tulare; Matthew Makert, 22, of Visalia; and three juvenile males, aged 16 and 17.
In the early hours of November 7, TCSO SWAT, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, executed search and arrest warrants, leading to the suspects’ arrests. Adult suspects were booked into the TCSO South County Detention Facility, while the juvenile suspects were taken to the Juvenile Detention Facility on homicide charges.
