Lake County Deputies Recover Over $8,000 in Stolen Goods During Arrest

CLEARLAKE OAKS, CA — “On November 5, 2024, at approximately 8:00 am, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives responded to a residence in Clearlake Oaks, where they contacted Casey Curnutt, 45, of Clearlake Oaks, to serve a felony arrest warrant related to burglary charges and previously evading arrest.
During the initial contact, Curnutt attempted to flee from deputies by running through an adjacent creek bed. Detective Lyons and his partner K9 Rex pursued Curnutt. K9 Rex was able to successfully apprehend Curnutt and allow deputies to place him under arrest.
While at the residence, detectives located a large amount of stolen property, valued at over $8,000, connected to at least five different victims of recent burglaries that occurred in the Clearlake Oaks area. Detectives are actively working on returning the items to its owners.
Curnatt was transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility, where he remains in custody.
After further investigation, on November 7, 2024, detectives added additional charges related to burglary.
