Over the past month, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Narcotics Unit has been investigating a suspected narcotics trafficker believed to be operating out of the Tenderloin District. The investigation allowed officers to gather sufficient probable cause to issue a search warrant for the individual, his vehicle, and his residence in Oakland, California.
On the evening of November 5, 2024, SFPD officers monitored the suspect as he traveled from Oakland to San Francisco. He was detained on the 900 block of Market Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon serving the search warrant, officers found the suspect in possession of suspected Fentanyl and various items indicative of drug dealing. This discovery led to his arrest on charges related to narcotics trafficking.
Further actions were taken by the SFPD Narcotics Unit at a residence on the 1100 block of 16th Street in Oakland. The search at this location yielded additional quantities of Fentanyl, ammunition, United States currency, and paraphernalia associated with narcotics trafficking and production. This search resulted in the arrest of two more individuals linked to the operation.
The first suspect, Marvin Izaguirre Varela, 20, was booked into the San Francisco County Jail facing multiple charges, including the sale of a controlled substance, possession for sale of Fentanyl, transporting a controlled substance, maintaining premises for narcotics production/storage, and conspiracy.
The subsequent arrests made in Oakland included 21-year-old Emilson Benega Ramos and 18-year-old Cesar Gutierrez Doblado, who were both booked into Santa Rita Jail. Their charges mirror those of Varela, focusing on possession for sale of Fentanyl, maintaining premises for narcotics production/storage, and conspiracy.
A total of 4.18 lbs. of Fentanyl was seized during the operations. As the investigation remains open and active, SFPD encourages anyone with further information to contact them at 1-415-575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with ‘SFPD.
