Two men were arrested following a traffic stop that yielded a kilo of Fentanyl.
On the night of October 28, a high-speed traffic stop led to the arrest of two Ventura County
men and the seizure of a kilogram of fentanyl. According to Ventura County Sheriff’s
Department spokesman Sgt. Kevin Kipp, it was approximately 9:20 p.m. when a deputy attached
to the Ventura County Headquarters Patrol Station noticed a vehicle speeding through the
unincorporated area of Saticoy in Ventura.
A quick records check on the vehicle’s license plate revealed that its registration had expired
nearly a year prior, though it still displayed a 2024 registration tab.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, 36-year-old Ventura resident Chase
Kennedy. In the vehicle with Kennedy was 38-year-old George Myron Harrison of Camarillo.
During the stop, the deputy found that Kennedy was “driving on a suspended California license,”
while Harrison was not licensed to drive.
As the deputy made arrangements to have Kennedy’s vehicle towed to the county impound
yard—normal protocol for vehicles being driven by unlicensed drivers—he conducted an
inventory check of the car which led to the discovery of a kilogram of fentanyl hidden inside.
As the tone of the evening’s contact with law enforcement suddenly shifted, both Kennedy and
Harrison were promptly handcuffed and taken into custody. Both men were transported to
Ventura County Jail, where they were booked on charges of possession for sales of a controlled
substance, transportation of a controlled substance, among other charges. Bail was set at $50,000 each.
