Motorist Arrested for Allegedly Leading Deputies on Pursuit While Under Influence

MERCED, CA  —  A motorist was arrested after allegedly leading Merced County law enforcement on a pursuit while intoxicated last week.

According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, a Merced County Sheriff’s deputy attempted an enforcement stop on a speeding vehicle the week of November 14.

The driver allegedly fled, leading deputies and California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit.

The pursuit continued onto State Route 99 and the suspect exited at Applegate Road near a CHP office, reportedly almost hitting a patrol vehicle.

The driver then came to a stop and was taken into custody. They were later found to be under the influence, authorities said.
