Deputies from the Fillmore and Camarillo Sheriff’s stations rescued a 14-year-old girl from a
Camarillo motel on November 12 after she was reported missing from her school in
Fillmore. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office began investigating immediately when school
staff contacted law enforcement about the girl’s unexplained absence. According to VCSD
spokesman Det. Chris Dyer, a School Resource Officer tracked the girl’s location to a local area
motel “using a cellular phone application,” at which point deputies from Camarillo Patrol
Service charged into action and headed to the reported location.
Upon arrival, deputies reviewed surveillance footage “showing the juvenile entering the motel
with an unidentified male.” While working to identify the specific room, deputies observed the
victim and the male suspect in a vehicle in the parking lot. Both were detained without incident.
At that point, 29-year-old Lompoc, Ca. resident Salvador Heredia Sanchez was taken into
custody and transported to the Camarillo Police Station and the girl was “medically cleared” and
reunited with her family.
The ensuing investigation indicated that the girl had earlier met Sanchez through a social media
platform and had “communicated with him for approximately two weeks” before planning to
meet in person.
Sanchez was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was charged with contributing to the
delinquency of a minor, lewd acts upon a child, and unlawful sex with a minor, with his bail set
at $250,000.
