“On August 25, 2024, Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Bureau (CAB) began an investigation into the death of 8-month-old Jannah Abughazaleh, who was found unresponsive after sustaining serious burns to much of her body. The child’s parents, Hussein Abughazaleh (father) and Kristina Siedlecki (mother), told Detectives that she sustained the injuries during a bath from the bath water days earlier.
Both parents admitted to watching their child’s condition deteriorate over several days, knowing she was dying. Despite her injuries and impending death, they never sought medical care for Jannah, in fear of being arrested and having CPS involved.
Days ago, the results from the Coroner’s autopsy report was released, and Jannah’s cause of death was officially ruled a homicide. With their investigation complete, CAB Detectives quickly obtained arrest warrants for both Abughazaleh and Siedlecki. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau took them into custody without incident on Tuesday, December 3. Abughazaleh and Siedlecki were booked into the Sacramento County Jail for murder, where they remain ineligible for bail. They are scheduled to appear in court today at 3 PM.”
