Illegal Gambling, Cockfighting Ring Reportedly Discovered in Lodi; Two Arrested

LODI, Calif. — Two individuals were arrested in San Joaquin County for alleged animal cruelty in connection with the discovery of a rooster fighting ring.
According to a press release by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of gambling and rooster fighting int he area of North Atkins Road at around noon on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Deputies arrived on scene and reportedly discovered five deceased roosters, and several others kept in boxes.
When they walked the property, deputies found another 30 deceased roosters and around 65 live roosters. In a barn on the property, the deputies discovered a large wooden arena and two sets of stadium seating, along with leashes, fighting gaffs, and spurs.
Two individuals detained at the scene, identified as Emmanuel Garcia and Morales Prisciliano, were arrestd on suspicion of cruelty to an animal and possession of game cocks for fighting, the sheriff’s office said.
