Ventura County, CA —
Emanuel Moreno-Diaz, 24, of Fillmore was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of firearms.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sr. Deputy Dustin Heersche,
when uniformed foot patrol deputies “investigating suspicious activity” in an area where
residents had recently complained of “a rise in criminal activity” encountered 2
Moreno-Diaz on a downtown Fillmore street.
Known to law enforcement for previous trespassing offenses at the same location, Moreno-Diaz
was detained for suspicion of trespassing. The ensuing conversation with him led to a brief
search of his person and the subsequent discovery of two loaded firearms in his possession.
A subsequent records check revealed the weapons had been reported stolen during a burglary in
Los Angeles County in October 2024.
Christmas Eve or not, Moreno-Diaz was arrested at the scene and transported to the Ventura
County Main Jail where he was charged with trespassing, possession of stolen property, and
unlawful possession of firearms. Bail was set at $50,000, and he remains in custody.
