King City Man Stabbed in Front Yard, Later Dies

Early Tuesday morning a 37-year-old King City resident decided to rake up some leaves from his front yard.  It was then that he was approached and stabbed, according to the King Police Department’s press release. According to Captain Bruce Miller of King City Police, they responded to a report of a battery in the 500 block of Bassett Street, a block away from the King City Police Department. The resident of the home apparently interrupted a trespasser in the neighborhood.

His wife came out of the home after hearing her husband yelling at the suspect, saying “you are not supposed to be here.” After spotting her husband on the ground, she called 911 as the suspect pushed past her to get away. Captain Miller said the wife was not aware that her husband had been stabbed when she called 911. “He later succumbed to his injuries at Mee Memorial Hospital,” said Miller.

According to the police report, the suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male, approximately five feet nine inches tall, weighing about 220 pounds and in his late 30s to early 40s in age, wearing a newer black pullover hooded sweatshirt and new, creased white and black plaid shorts to his knees, and new white unlaced basketball type shoes. The suspect was last seen running towards South Russ Avenue.
Miller said the victim has no gang ties and the motive for this murder has yet to be determined.
