Would-Be Bank Robber Escapes Without Cash

On Tuesday afternoon around 5:30 the Marin County Sheriff’s office was called concerning an attempted hold-up at  the Union Bank in the Strawberry Village Shopping Center.

Suspect captured on surveillance

When deputies arrived they were informed by employees of the bank that an attempted robbery had just occurred.  The suspect had entered the bank and produced a note demanding money.

However, after several minutes the suspect fled the bank empty-handed.  He is described as a white male approximately 40 – 50 years old.  He has a medium build with blond hair, light colored eyes and light facial hair. In addition, he was wearing a brown knit cap with ear flaps, a green jacket, black leather jacket and dark pants.

Police suspect that this may be the same suspect involved in a bank robbery on January 9 in Greenbrae.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 415-479-2311.  Those wishing to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward can call Bay Area Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
