Man Arrested for Allegedly Having Sex with Minor

SANTA MARIA – Police arrested a 19-year-old man early Saturday morning for allegedly having sex in his car with a minor.

Ricardo Javier Rivera Flores, of Santa Maria, was taken into custody just after midnight on Jan. 26, in the 400 block of West Park and booked at Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14, according to the Police Department.

Police were called to the area for reports of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot, and, upon investigation, officers discovered Flores and an unidentified 12-year-old female allegedly having sex in the car. The girl’s name is being withheld because of her age.

Flores initially gave officers a false name and date of birth. However, his true name and age, revealing the suspect was over 18, was discovered during the investigation, police said.
