Nephew Arrested for Fatally Stabbing Uncle in Fresno

FRESNO – A man confessed to stabbing his uncle to death after an argument at his home over the weekend, police said.

The Fresno Police Department arrested 30-year-old Joe Corrales after he admitted to stabbing his uncle, 49-year-old Tommy Peralta.

The incident happened in the late afternoon on Saturday. Officers were called to 4565 E.Mono Ave. near Maple Avenue around 5:30 p.m. after getting calls about a stabbing victim. Authorities say the two men lived in the house together.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Peralta inside with several stab wounds to his upper body, authorities said. Officers and Emergency Medical Service technicians who arrived on the scene removed the victim to the front porch to unsuccessfully provide CPR.

“The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Lt. Garza with the police department.

The victim’s nephew, Joe Corrales, admitted that he had stabbed his uncle after a disagreement, authorities said.

Police arrested Corrales and booked him into the Fresno County Jail on murder charges.

In an unrelated incident, another man was also stabbed on Saturday afternoon. Police say the crime took place in the area of Olive and Delno streets in Fresno. Witnesses said the stabbing happened in response to an altercation from the previous day, police said. Officers believe the incident may have been about drugs because they found some at the scene. The three suspects in the case got away in an older white Dodge Stratus.
