Interrupted Burglary Leaves Tulare Man in Custody

TULARE, Calif. — Brandon Lowrey’s friend had a lucky day on November 11, but when Lowrey ran, his luck ran out.

Lowrey, 23, of 1984 E. Bridger Ave. in Tulare, and another male went into a residential garage in Visalia on Tuesday morning, according to Visalia police. The two were taking items out of the cars in the garage when the homeowner entered and saw them.

Lowrey and his cohort ran to their vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, according Visalia Police Sgt. Steven Phillips, and tried to flee the scene. The homeowner followed them and confronted them at the SUV, scaring them off before they could get the vehicle started. Lowrey and his alleged partner-in-crime ran away on foot, according to Sgt. Phillips.

The Tahoe had earlier been reported stolen, Visalia police later determined.

Lowrey’s escape through neighborhoods and backyards was thwarted. He was caught by Visalia police, who found that Lowrey had the homeowner’s portable DVD player and a GPS unit in his possession, Sgt. Phillips said.

Lowrey was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest and was booked into Tulare County Jail.
