Woodland Police’s Diligent Action Leads to Arrest

WOODLAND – A Woodland resident reported that her husband’s two bikes were stolen subsequent to a garage-break in.  Ten minutes later, Woodland police had captured the male subject.

900 block College St.

Carol Barnett reported the theft from her residence on the 900 block of College St. at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, claiming that two male subjects had taken two bikes and other property belonging to her husband, Stephen Barnett.

Police received the report over the radio and at 2:56 p.m., a responding officer spotted a male matching the suspect description of one of the robbers.  The suspect was strolling down the block near Fourth St. and Gum Ave. When the suspect spotted the officer, he dropped a black duffel bag he had been carrying.

Suspect 49-year-old Ronald Bell of Woodland was arrested without incident.  He was booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of first degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.   His bail was set at $60,000 as of Thursday night.

Bike thefts in Yolo County are fairly common

The other male subject is still at large, according to an official press release. He is described as an adult Latino in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds.  He was wearing a light colored shirt and red shorts.   The bikes have not yet been found.
